JUDOKA’S CODE OF HONOR
Judo cherishes age-old traditions based on the ancient Samurai code of honor.
Judo trains not only physical strength, but also hardens the will, develops the mind, and cultivates nobility.
A judoka’s code of honor includes such qualities as:
- politeness;
- courage;
- sincerity;
- honesty;
- modesty;
- self-control;
- faithfulness in friendship;
- respect for others.
Jigoro Kano distinguished five principles of judoka’s behavior in everyday life:
- Own the initiative in any endeavor;
- Carefully observe yourself and the circumstances of daily life, carefully observe other people, carefully observe everything around you;
