White Belt – The Beginning of the Judo Journey

White Belt
Reiho and the basic postures
Basic movements

The White Belt (10th Kyu) is the first rank in judo and marks the beginning of every student's journey. Regardless of age or athletic background, every judoka starts here, building the essential skills, confidence, and mindset needed for long-term success.

The white belt represents a new beginning—an open mind, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to steady improvement. During this stage, students develop the fundamentals of judo through structured instruction focused on:

  • Basic movement and coordination
  • Safe falling techniques (ukemi)
  • Introductory throws and groundwork
  • Physical fitness and body awareness
  • Judo etiquette, discipline, and respect

Our Progress Tracking System

At Dynamo Sports Center, we use a structured curriculum designed to help every student progress with confidence. Instead of simply waiting for the next belt promotion, children work toward smaller, measurable milestones throughout their training.

For the White Belt level, students earn achievement patches and progress stickers by demonstrating proficiency in key skill categories, including:

  • Physical development and athletic movement
  • Fundamental judo techniques
  • Throws, holds, and control positions
  • Balance, coordination, and body control

As each milestone is completed, students receive a new progress marker that recognizes their achievement. This system keeps children motivated, allows parents to clearly see their child's development, and ensures every student builds a strong technical foundation before advancing to the next belt level.

The White Belt is more than the first rank—it is where discipline, confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of judo begin.
